NEW I-9 FORM DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 1st
While the USCIS has been content to allow us to use an expired I-9 form since 2019, they finally published a new version and all employers are required to use the new version on or before November 1, 2023, or face penalties for non-compliance. Here’s what you need to know:
- The new form (found here) has an Edition date of 08/01/23 in the bottom left-hand corner.
- The new version should be used for all new employment verifications going forward (not retroactively) starting no later than November 1st.
- It is scheduled to expire 07/31/2026 (noted in the upper right hand corner) – but we’ll see!
- As we previously reported in our July 24th blog, remember that new verification changes went into effect on July 31, 2023, so be sure you’re following the new rules.
It’s time to update those new hire onboarding form packages now – and then you get to do it again in a couple of months when the new W-4 comes out – aren’t I just a ray of sunshine?
